UNICEF’s Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) is maintaining a Moodle-based Learning Management System with more than 30 e-learning courses focused on private sector fundraising and partnerships targeted towards fundraisers, partnerships and communications colleagues across UNICEF offices globally. Adjustments and revisions to courses are made based on new strategies, approaches and examples, and new courses are developed depending on the need of technical teams in PFP.

How can you make a difference? 

PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT

We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer and eLearning Consultant who will work with PFP’s PRIME Team to support the maintenance of the e-learning channel, the revision of e-courses, and the development to new ones under the supervision of the Knowledge Management Manager and in coordination with different technical teams and subject matter experts.

OBJECTIVE

Support the PRIME Knowledge Management team in maintaining and updating its e-Learning courses and channel, as well as in managing participants taking the different e-courses.

MAJOR TASKS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED

  • Design, develop and launch new e-learning courses as required by technical teams in PFP, coordinating with subject matter experts on content, developing storyboards and gathering feedback for improvement and refinement of lessons;
  • Update and revise existing e-learning courses based on updated strategies, new cases and examples, and other content updates, following-up and liaising with course owners to gather updates and revisions;
  • Translate existing courses into other languages based on requests by course owners; 
  • Further improve the user interface of the e-learning channel by incorporating improvements to learning journeys, among others; 
  • Perform participant management and support in accessing courses in the e-learning channel, liaising with the Agora team where needed; 
  • Perform quarterly monitoring of course and channel performance and prepare presentations on progress of e-learning work. 
  • Conduct capacity building sessions to help develop the skills of PFP teams and colleagues in instructional design, where and when needed

Deliverables

  1. New e-course development              
  • Interactive and highly engaging 60- to 90-minute self-paced e-course using Articulate, Rise or H5P 
  1. Course revision/update                 
  • E-course updated with new content and interactivity as needed 
  1. Course translation                           
  • E-course translated into a language required by the course owner 
  1. e-Channel management and improvement 
  • Improved Learning Journey presentation in the PFP e-learning channel 
  • Improved presentation/format of courses in the PFP e-learning channel 
  1. Participant management               
  • Learner requests for access and other troubleshooting concerns resolved 
  1. Course/channel monitoring 
  • PowerPoint consolidating all performance indicators of the e-channel and the e-courses, with data segmented per e-course 
  1. Capacity building 
  • 60-minute online live sessions on storyboarding or interactive e-course design delivered 

Responsibilities of the Consultant: 

  • The consultant will use their own equipment; laptops, microphones, software and other accessories that may be required for this task
  • The consultant will not give the content/material or any part thereof, to any third party without the written permission of UNICEF. All components will be the property of UNICEF, and the consultant will not share the same with anyone else. 
  • The consultant will not put their own name or logo/emblem on the content / final product. The only organization branding will be UNICEF, if required.
  • Regular liaison with manager and content owners and any related units.

Responsibilities of UNICEF:

  • UNICEF will provide all details pertaining to the activity and the requirements
  • UNICEF will orient the consultant on UNICEF’s branding guidelines
  • UNICEF will share the documents and specifications with the consultant as he/she becomes available and will coordinate the timely delivery of work 

TRAVEL:

No travel is envisaged for this consultancy. However, the consultant might be required to travel outside their duty station for specific events in which case payment of travel costs, DSA, etc. will be paid by UNICEF, and will be agreed upon between the supervisor and the consultant prior to travel and will be reimbursed on actuals.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Education:

  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or higher) in adult learning, training or another relevant field is required. A first-level university degree, in combination with additional 1 year of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years progressive experience in E-learning, instructional design, training and capacity building or other relevant areas is required.
  • Good portfolio of e-learning courses developed is required.
  • Ability to follow creative briefs and produce accurate artwork which is in line with the UNICEF brand guidelines is an asset. 
  • Experience of working for an international organization or an NGO is desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of Moodle, Articulate Storyline, Rise, and H5P is required.
  • Multimedia and editing knowledge using Premiere Pro is desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of PowerPoint and other Office platforms is required.
  • Ability to translate data into compelling infographics is required.
  • Ability to deliver products on time and within budget is desirable.

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required (Good command of written and spoken English). Knowledge of another official UN language such French and/or Spanish is considered as an asset.
