Loon Center Manager

The Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation (ACLC) is seeking an outgoing, organized, and analytical Loon Center Manger to join our dedicated team to oversee visitor engagement and retail operations at our office in Saranac Lake, NY. We are a local non-profit passionately devoted to addressing environmental conservation concerns affecting New York State’s Common Loons, their habitat, and the aquatic ecosystems of the Adirondack Park. This is a full-time position. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing daily retail operations and store accounting
• Conversing with visitors about loons, loon behavior, our research and conservation efforts
• Maintaining our e-commerce site and Point of Sale system
• Managing product mix, inventory, and retail budget
• Creating and maintaining merchandise displays
• Managing seasonal retail staff and volunteers
• Providing sales and visitor reports to our Executive Director, CFO, and the Board
• Managing vendor relationships
• Collaborating with other departments on various projects including social media campaigns, fundraising, and events.

Professional requirements

• 3-5 years’ retail management experience in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated success working in high-touch, customer-facing roles
• Ability to manage inventory and understand sell-through reports
• Strong leadership skills
• Experience working with Square, Stripe, Venmo, PayPal or similar systems
