CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Digital Systems Specialist, to implement and support the current processes of the CIMMYT to assist the Knowledge Management and Information Technology (KMIT) unit in developing web system platforms.
The position will be based at CIMMYT headquarters in Texcoco, State of Mexico, near Mexico City.
Specific duties:
- Manage, document, sand monitor open-source solutions, such as Publication and Data Repositories, Data exploration and Visualization platforms, Integrated library system, among others.
- Analyze, design, modify and test new solutions to support the implementation of the CIMMYT Knowledge Management and Information Technology team’s strategy.
- Conduct technical risk assessments to ensure that system vulnerabilities are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
- Perform checks and maintenance of systems in charge according to agreed-upon practices, proactively investigating alerts or incidents in runtime logs or configurations to ensure systems remain operational.
- Manage, document, and monitor the status of the Laboratory Information Management System and Genetic laboratory management tools, such as DArT and Illumina.
- Provide technical guidance and support to contribute to the development of the digital transformation process.
- Deliver training on topics related to Knowledge Management.
- Any other tasks requested by the supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering, and/or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the same role or activities.
- In-depth demonstrable experience in the development and implementation of new features for existing CIMMYT repositories such as Dataverse, DSpace and/or Koha Integrated Library Management System at the code level.
- In-depth demonstrable experience in administration of cluster management systems and job scheduling such as Slurm.
- In-depth demonstrable experience in administration of laboratory information management systems and DNA Sequencing such as DArT and Illumina.
- The candidate must exhibit sense of urgency and commitment to his/her responsibilities and deadline.
