CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Capacity Development Program Management Specialist to create integral educational solutions for CIMMYT Academy projects. This includes the identification, design, delivery, and documentation of the processes supporting the learning and development initiatives through Learning Management Systems (LMS) as part of CIMMYT Academy’s Capacity Development programs for the benefit of its partners and communities we serve.

 

The position will be based at CIMMYT headquarters in Texcoco, State of Mexico, near Mexico City.

 Specific duties:

  • Co-design capacity development courses, programs, solutions and interventions with the research
  • programs at CIMMYT and other technical partners that collaborate with the Academy.
  • In close coordination with his/her supervisor, the resource persons and partner institutions – plan,
  • draft, finalize, implement, facilitate, monitor and evaluate training courses, training programs and
  • projects.
  • Technical management will likely involve a combination of guidance, training, facilitation of
  • organizational assessments, and development of strategies and institutional strengthening plans.
  • Provide strategic guidance on the implementation of Capacity Development and training activities
  • with research programs.
  • Effectively manage and facilitate CapDev courses and programs for internal and external
  • stakeholders, ensuring efficient transfer of knowledge and skills.
  • Identify possible CIMMYT and external resource persons for the implementation of the programs.
  • Coordinate with internal and external resource persons, NARES and other partner organizations
  • for efficient organization of training
  • Contribute to the documentation and systematization of capacity development processes.
  • Build engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and
  • knowledge transfer.
  • Provide expert guidance in developing content of Capacity Development and training programs at
  • the request of CIMMYT’s research programs, based on the identified learning needs and desired
  • outcomes.
  • Process and organize training programs and trainee-learning outcomes, including collection,
  • collation and reporting of the pre-and post-training evaluations.
  • Ensure all course materials are compiled and shared with relevant stakeholders for each of the
  • courses implemented.
  • Create course content, including expository text, scripts for animated and testimonial videos,
  • learning activities, and assessment questions that enhance retention.
  • Collect data and prepare reports on training events.
  • Document all the procedures pertaining to the CIMMYT Academy.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or head of the Academy.
  • The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in education, agricultural extension, psychology, sociology, management, or an equivalent technical degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in coordinating, facilitating, teaching, designing, and implementing training courses for various stakeholders including professionals, students, farmers, etc.
  • The applicant must have basic knowledge of protocols and administrative and/or operational procedures of the research support and training function.
  • The holder of the position should demonstrate a basic understanding of end-to-end project management/program management and administration.
  • Experience in administration and facilitation of training programs and Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Opigno) is required.
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in teams are essential.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint is necessary.
  • Instructional design experience will be advantageous.
  • Designing educational content will be considered an advantage.
  • An advanced level of English language proficiency is required (English test will be administered; candidates must score a minimum of C1 as per CEFR).
