CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, critical thinking, and service-oriented professional for the position of Purchasing Analyst to be part of the Purchasing unit team in the Business Services Department.

 

The position will be based at CIMMYT headquarters in Texcoco, State of Mexico, near Mexico City.

Specific duties:

  • Serve as the focal point for communication and advisory with programs/departments/areas, from identifying their needs to delivering goods and services.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, assess their capabilities, and negotiate contracts attending CIMMYT Legal requirements, ensuring adherence to required criteria such as quality, competitiveness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery, quality assurance, and favorable terms.
  • Address any issues or concerns that may arise during the procurement process.
  • Manage purchase requisitions from research programs/departments/areas, including reviewing and verifying requisitions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Conduct follow-up meetings with programs/departments/areas to track progress on special projects.
  • Address inquiries about products, services, and CIMMYT purchasing policies promptly and courteously, resolving problems efficiently.
  • Monitor the procurement process, track order status, and coordinate with buyers and internal stakeholders to expedite deliveries.
  • Contribute to implementing purchasing processes at CIMMYT and develop communication approaches to support information dissemination and updates.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities, such as supply chain disruptions, quality issues, and compliance breaches.
  • Conduct data analysis on acquisition metrics, trends, and patterns within research programs.
  • Collaborate closely with buyers to ensure continuity of services and address any issues that arise during the purchasing cycle.
  • The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree related area such as business administration/management, economics, logistics, supply chain management, purchasing, international trade, and commercial relations/economics.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement analyst position with increasing levels of responsibility in a medium-sized to large grant-funded organization.
  • Advanced level of English language (English test will be tested; candidate must score a minimum of C1 as per CEFR).
  • High levels of Customer service skills and experience.
  • Advanced level in MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint. (Experience with AX Dynamics will be a plus).
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate prioritization and planning skills.
