St. Jude Facilities Operations and Maintenance department is looking for a Maintenance Assistant for Liquid Nitrogen Handling.

Main tasks of this role are filling and transporting liquid nitrogen dewars campus-wide and transferring liquid nitrogen between dewars.

The maintenance assistance position entails using log sheets for deliveries of nitrogen to our customers. In this position the candidate will be filling there Dewar tanks, deliveries of LN2 tanks and filling LN2 tanks. The maintenance assistance will also work with the mechanics learning the different types of equipment, how to repair pumps, pipe threading and other duty’s assigned by the supervisor.

This shift for this role is mainly for Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Weekends and holidays may be necessary, when needed.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Transports and fills liquid nitrogen. Monitors liquid nitrogen dewar contents campus-wide, and refills them when required. Transports liquid nitrogen for use by customers, when requested.
  • Inspects and changes filters in air handling units and other HVAC equipment, under the supervision of an HVAC Mechanic or supervisor.
  • Performs Preventive Maintenance (P.M.). Performs preventive maintenance to adjust, lubricate and clean equipment and vehicles under the supervision of a Maintenance Mechanic, or Maintenance Supervisor. Notifies his/her supervisor when preventive maintenance requirements must be updated.
  • Repairs, dismantles and assembles equipment per manufacturer’s specifications. Troubleshoots and performs repairs under supervision of the Grounds Shop Lead, a Maintenance Mechanic, or Maintenance Supervisor. Assembles equipment under the supervision of the Grounds Shop Lead, a Maintenance Mechanic, or a Maintenance Supervisor, according to manufacturer’s manuals.
  • Assists other maintenance personnel as needed and when assigned
  • Orders job-related material as needed Orders required maintenance parts and material under direction of a Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Mechanic, or Grounds Shop Lead.
  • Performs, other related duties, as assigned, in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

 

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

 

Minimum Experience:

  • One-year experience in a related mechanical field preferred

 

 

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $21.00 – $31.50 per hour for the role of Maintenance Assistant – Liquid Nitrogen Handling.
