We are looking for a Maintenance Carpenter To work as a member of a multi-tasking maintenance team providing professional and technical expertise within an effective and efficient customer focused maintenance service to provide a fit for purpose estate and environment to all Trust owned, leased or rented properties.The post will be Initially based at Springfield Hospital and will be required to be based or work in any property owned, leased or rented by the Trust. This role includes on call duties.Main duties of the jobTo work as a member of a multi-tasking maintenance team providing professional and technical expertise within an effective and efficient customer focused maintenance service to provide a fit for purpose estate and environment to all Trust owned, leased or rented properties.The post holder is also accountable within the facilities Department to ensure adequate processes and procedures exist for the improvement, promotion and delivery of safe, quality and value for money services. - To liaise with contractors in regards to minor project work.
- To attend a process of effective communication/team briefing, with supervisors under sphere of responsibility.
- To communicate with all disciplines in an effective manner using tact and diplomacy in often difficult situations ensuring confidentiality is maintained when appropriate.
- To communicate with supervisors to ensure that stores and equipment are kept at the correct levels to provide a quick efficient service.
- To communicate with ward managers, ward staff and customers any delays in maintenance requests as required to provide a customer focused service.
- To promote the delivery of safe, quality, value for money Maintenance Services across the Trust.
- To comply with statutory and mandatory requirements relating to Maintenance services and procedures.

- Carpentry & Joinery related City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Evidence of continuing professional and personal development
- Full and clean driving licence
ExperienceEssential
- Demonstrable experience of working in a range of Carpentry related services e.g. joinery, glazing, roofing, practical maintenance, installations and fault finding
- Experience of providing effective customer service
Desirable
- Experience and knowledge of other trades
- Experience of working with other trades
- Experience of working in a mental health environment
Knowledge & SkillsEssential
- Knowledge of the application of standards and regulations in regards to; Health & Safety, Fire Compartmentation, DDA, Asbestos handling, Estates HTM standards
- Ability to read building drawings
- Basic Numerate and literacy skills (level 1)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of our business and how it supports patient care
- Basic IT skills

- Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge
- Basic heating and ventilation knowledge
