The Upper Valley Haven seeks a Major Gifts Officer to join its
high performing Development Team.

The Haven is a private nonprofit that provides support and
assistance to community members struggling with poverty in Vermont
and New Hampshire. We meet people where they are, address immediate
needs through food and shelter, and offer longer-term solutions
that foster independence and housing stability. Everyone deserves
to have their basic needs met and a community is stronger when we
offer a hand up to our most vulnerable neighbors.

With the support of the Upper Valley community, the Haven
assists those who are experiencing poverty to be free from hunger,
to be securely housed, and to pursue a self-directed life. Founded
in 1980, the Haven provides food, temporary shelter, supportive
housing, children’s after school and summer programs, community
outreach, and problem-solving support to those in need.

With donor contributions of more than $3.5 million annually, the
Haven is a dynamic organization that inspires its employees,
volunteers, and the Upper Valley community of VT and NH to
accomplish great work for individuals and families in need of our
support. Over 3,500 donors make annual gifts to the Haven. More
than 400 individuals and over 80 groups volunteer each year.
The Position
Reporting to the Director of Development & Communications,
the Major Gifts Officer (MGO) will work collaboratively with the
executive team, board members, senior leadership, staff, and
volunteers to manage the Haven’s major donor giving program. This
individual will function as an ambassador for the organization.
With deep knowledge of best practices of relationship-based
fundraising, the MGO identifies, engages, cultivates, solicits, and
stewards current and prospective top donors in expanding their
financial support of the work of the Haven. Responsible for working
with an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects, this individual
will design and develop solicitation strategies; identifying gift
opportunities that match donors’ interests while personally
soliciting gifts and providing stewardship.
We are preparing for an exciting capital campaign in which the
candidate will have a lead role.

Compensation
This is a full-time opportunity with a flexible hybrid work
schedule. The salary range is $60,000 to $75,000 depending on
education and experience. Part-time applicants will be
