Management and Capacity Building Specialist

Peace Corps Response

tendersglobal.net

Civil society organizations (CSOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Georgia have requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as a Management and Capacity Building Specialist. CSOs/NGOs have an important role in Georgia’s political, economic and social life. The majority of CSOs/NGOs have clearly defined missions, as well as the flexibility to support different target groups and operate in various fields of development. Although CSOs/NGOs have flexibility and clear missions, they do not always actively engage in strategic planning, organizational development, and other similar activities. CSOs/NGOs need additional skills to do so and are challenged by the lack of finances and sustainable growth opportunities. Only a few social enterprises that can help CSOs/NGOs to have sustainable programming are operational in Georgia, and CSOs/NGOs also have challenges with staff retention and professional development.

The PCRV will support the development of Georgian CSOs/NGOs and assist in improving their fundraising and proposal writing skills and help to diversify funding sources, so that they are not dependent solely on grant writing. The CSOs/NGOs also need to identify strategies for partnership with the private sector on important social issues. The PCRV will identify civil society and business sector possibilities, develop partnership proposals and promote mutual interest in supporting western Georgia communities. The goal of this assignment is to build staff capacity to conduct needs assessments, introduce planning tools, manage project lifecycles, develop monitoring and evaluation instruments, and strengthen the partnerships and sustainable growth of the CSOs/NGOs.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Georgia together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
