Management of the Tabgha Pilgrimage Centre by Lake Gennesaret (m/f/x)

For over 160 years, the German Association of the Holy Land (DVHL) has been committed to helping people in the Middle East, particularly through social, educational and pastoral projects. The DVHL supports over 30 institutions, including schools, kindergartens, universities, nursing homes and parishes, and is actively committed to understanding, reconciliation and peace in the area of conflict between Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The DVHL’s important institutions in the Holy Land include the Dormition Basilica and the Benedictine monastery on Mount Zion in Jerusalem, the Church of the Multiplication of the Bread and the monastery in Tabgha on Lake Gennesaret, as well as the Tabgha Pilgrim House, which is open to German and international pilgrims with 71 rooms, a dining room, conference rooms and a chapel. The pilgrims’ house is surrounded by a large outdoor area with olive groves and orchards and is looked after by an international team of employees and nuns. The Benedictines of Tabgha Priory provide the spiritual director of the house and work closely with the management.

On behalf of DVHL, AGIAMONDO is looking for the next possible date for a Management of the Tabgha Pilgrimage Centre by Lake Gennesaret (m/f/x).

 

 

Your tasks

• Together with the Spiritual Director, you will be responsible for the management of the Pilgrim House. In doing so, you will be guided by business principles and Christian values. You will also work closely with the Board of Directors and the Secretary General of the German Association of the Holy Land (DVHL).
• You will be responsible for the organization, coordination and monitoring of all operational and administrative areas. This includes the selection, management and development of staff, religious sisters and international volunteers.
• You prepare the annual budget, set sales targets, monitor the cost budget and carry out monthly and annual financial statements.
• You will be responsible for purchasing and warehousing.
• You will also plan and manage marketing and advertising measures. You will ensure guest satisfaction and, if necessary, take measures to increase it. You will also maintain personal contact with guests and partners.
• You will ensure that the building and outdoor facilities are maintained. You will also plan necessary renovations and energy and ecological improvements and represent the Pilgerhaus on DVHL committees.

 

 

Your profile

• You have successfully completed a relevant apprenticeship or degree, ideally in the fields of hotel management, tourism or pilgrimage management.
• You have several years of experience in a comparable position in (pilgrimage) tourism, hotel management or in the management of conference or educational facilities.
• You have in-depth knowledge of Christian pilgrimage and a strong network in this field.
• You have experience of working in church institutions or in close cooperation with these institutions.
• Business fluent in Hebrew, Arabic and English, practical knowledge of German desirable.
• You have strong interpersonal skills and experience in managingemployees, are entrepreneurial, have organizational skills and have the necessary resilience for a stay abroad in Israel.
• You belong to a Christian church, identify with the goals of the German Association of the Holy Land and enjoy providing a positive experience for guests and pilgrims.
