Job
Description

The Manager of Institutional Giving is a key member of a
Development Team charged with raising philanthropic support to
enrich Uncommon’s educational model and expand our reach. Reporting
to the Director of Institutional Giving, this role will be
instrumental to sustaining and growing partnerships with
foundations, corporations, and government entities. The position
will serve as the team’s lead for the development of a corporate
engagement program and work closely with the Director to cultivate
new donors, create donor materials including grant proposals and
reports, and engage in other activities to expand institutional
giving.

Corporate Engagement

  • Work closely with Director of Institutional Giving and other
    members of the Development Team to map and implement an integrated
    corporate giving strategy
  • Liaise with key stakeholders throughout the organization on
    action steps for corporate engagement
  • Develop cultivation and solicitation for new and previously
    identified corporate prospects
  • Directly solicit corporate partners through written materials,
    personal contact, and other correspondence

Grant Management

  • Write concept notes, grant proposals, and reports for existing
    and prospective foundation, corporate, and government donors that
    provide funding from $25K to $15M
  • Manage a calendar of institutional donor deadlines and oversee
    systems for collecting information from schools, regions, and Home
    Office teams to inform proposals, reports, and meeting decks
  • Track stewardship and cultivation milestones and grant
    documentation in Salesforce donor management platform

Portfolio Growth

  • Identify new prospects for cultivation and solicitation
  • Research potential and existing donors to expand the
    institutional giving pipeline
  • Manage portfolio of institutional funders and effectively
    conduct moves management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-4 years of directly related experience required
  • Love of non-profit storytelling and the process of translating
    programmatic initiatives and data into inspiring documents for
    investors
  • Entrepreneurial spirit drawn to identifying ways to connect
    funder and organizational priorities 
  • Facility working directly with donors, or desire to grow into
    this role
  • Experience building and managing internal systems to support
    collaboration and information collection
  • Strong project management and writing skills required; strong
    visual design skills is a plus
  • Ability to independently lead multiple tasks in a fast-paced
    environment
  • Commitment to learning through experience and feedback and
    taking initiative to make improvement

Compensation for this position: The
starting compensation for this role based in
NYC is between $95,200 to
$112,000
 and generally, we expect that qualified
candidates in this location will be made an offer
between $95,200 and $100,800. The starting
pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are
not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and
location. Because we value staff staying in their roles over time,
we do not currently cap salary ranges.
