In partnership with the University of Oxford and over 40 industrial collaborators, the University of Bristol is launching a new Engineering Biology Centre for Doctoral Training (EngBioCDT). The EngBioCDT will provide bespoke cohort-based training with a focus on how engineering biology concepts and technologies can be translated into products with real-world impact.
We are seeking to recruit a manager to set up and deliver this exciting new programme. The post holder will be responsible for the overall management of all aspects of administration whilst working closely with the CDT Director to contribute to the strategic and operational development of the Centre.
The role will be based in the School or Engineering Mathematics and Technology, and will be closely associated with the University’s BioDesign Institute for Synthetic and Engineering Biology.
You will be responsible for the operational delivery of the programme. Ensuring consistently high-quality assistance to all Centre staff and students, working closely with multiple teams across the Universities of Bristol and Oxford, and with external partners, to deliver a positive and successful student experience.
You will oversee an annual programme of EngBio CDT events, including a summer school which will include talks from engineering biology leaders, student pitches, and outreach projects.
Close links with industrial partners are a key component of the programme, and activities such as industrial placements, mentorship and translational training, the CDT will empower students to deliver EngBio solutions to real-world applications through skills and knowledge training.
You will provide pastoral guidance throughout a student’s time with the CDT, ensuring that that they have the very best chance of success, by enabling them to access the support they require both locally, from the wider university and where relevant from their industrial partners.
You are a motivated, resourceful and personable individual who can work with the CDT Management team across the Universities of Bristol and Oxford to deliver an exceptional training experience for the EngBio CDT Students.
