Position Overview

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance professional to further develop their career in an environment of continuous improvement and service excellence. This position can be based on either our Wellington or Manawatū campus. 

Reporting to the CFO, the Manager – Financial Planning and Reporting will lead a team of accountants in the provision of:

•    Budgeting and forecasting support to the wider University.
•    Monthly and ad-hoc reporting to the senior leadership team and Council.
•    Modelling and benchmarking activities as needed. 

Key Accountabilities include:

•    Leading and managing financial and management accounting services to provide robust and insightful analysis and advice to the University on financial performance and management.
•    Leading and managing the financial aspects of the University planning, budgeting and forecasting processes.
•    Provision of specialist expertise in key areas such as business case analysis
•    Provision of leadership and training in financial and management accounting matters;
•    Initiate and meet key objectives that align with the University’s strategy such as best practice planning and transforming processes and procedures to contribute to the measures of success within the University.
•    Developing and leading a team that understands what it means to be a Te Tiriti led organisation and to encourage and recognise the adoption of this.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

•    At least seven years’ experience managing financial operations and finance business partner teams preferably in a large organisation
•    Formal people leadership/management experience.
•    Experience in a commercial environment and with change and transformational management experience is desirable.
•    Demonstrable experience of working with large numbers of stakeholders.
•    An ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment with changing priorities
•    An ability to work with ambiguity
•    Experience in writing financial reports for senior management and governing bodies.
