About this opportunity

The purpose of this newly-created role is to lead projects and initiatives focused on hearing loss awareness and prevention, community engagement, stakeholder collaboration and international representation.
Reporting to the CEO, you’ll be responsible for designing and delivering and reporting on a program of initiatives under the terms of a Commonwealth Government grant, including:

  • collaborating with various stakeholders
  • creating and leading a coalition/advisory group
  • developing social media campaigns on hearing loss prevention
  • supporting Indigenous and CALD communities
  • facilitating consumer participation in research
  • providing education and training for healthcare practitioners.

Through your project management, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning and health education responsibilities, you’ll enable the following outcomes:

  • effective consultation and information sharing with members, the wider health sector, community and the Australian Government
  • Deafness Forum is a source of sector knowledge and expertise
  • well-informed and impartial advice to the Commonwealth within its area of expertise
  • education and training to health practitioners working in the relevant part of the health sector to improve the quality of health services as it relates to hearing.

About you

You’re a proactive project and stakeholder manager who’s naturally collaborative and driven to achieve outcomes and make an impact.

You might have a background in public health promotion, policy, communications, demography, or a related field.

We’d love you to bring:

  • proven experience in managing projects and stakeholders
  • excellent communication skills and ability to share information in a purposeful manner
  • proven ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • a track record of delivering contracted services, driving results and achieving impact
  • demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage competing priorities
  • knowledge of or interest in hearing health issues, public health principles and health promotion strategies
  • strong report writing skills
  • experience working with Indigenous communities and/or culturally and linguistically diverse populations (desirable)
  • experience in planning and implementing strategies and campaigns to bring about change (desirable)
  • experience working in environments requiring a high degree of judgment, confidentiality and sensitivity (desirable)
  • proficiency in productivity and communication software such as MS Office, Wordpress (for the website), social media, ChatGPT (and similar)
