Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
With dual reporting to the Vice President for Institutional
Advancement and the Director, McAninch Art and Performing Arts,
this role is responsible for setting and execution of the vision
for a comprehensive fundraising effort in the Arts, inclusive of
the MAC, CCMA, and New Philharmonic Orchestra. Supporting the
funding objectives of College of DuPage and the Foundation, the
person in this role will secure new donors and manage all current
and future donor relations. The Institutional Advancement Manager
expands and cultivates a database of prospective donors for annual,
major, and planned gifts for the cultural arts at the College of
DuPage. The Institutional Advancement Manager will create major and
planned gift strategies and vehicles to grow funding results in
these fundraising areas. This position will be responsible for
providing strategies, leadership in the planning and implementation
of private fundraising efforts to obtain annual gifts, corporate
support, support of scholarships, and endowment growth for the
cultural arts at the College of DuPage. Work expectations will
include time spent in and out of the office working directly with
prospects and donors for the purposes of cultivation and
solicitation. Additionally, expectations include attending
performances, events, and other activities associated with
supporting the cultural arts at the College of DuPage. A
significant amount of the Manager’s time will be spent cultivating
relationships with donors and developing relationships with
prospective donors at shows, concerts/events on evenings and
weekends outside the office.

  • Lead efforts to obtain substantial annual gifts, mid-level
    funding ($1,000 – $25,000) in support of cultural arts priorities
    and campaigns, event sponsorships, and planned gifts.
  • Serve as the primary major gift fundraiser for the performing
    and visual arts programs, manage volunteers and advocates for arts
    programs in support of cultural arts priorities and campaigns,
    event sponsorships, and planned gifts.
  • Work in collaboration with other fundraising staff to support
    annual campaigns, special appeals, internal giving efforts, and
    special event planning.
  • Plan and lead efforts for follow-up with donors after program
    and initiatives. Manage and maintain records for the program, book
    donor lists at appropriate levels, and provide quarterly updates to
    the Mac and others as needed.
  • Maintain and continue to develop the New Philharmonic chair
    sponsor program and related events.
  • Increase private philanthropy to the College through the
    College of DuPage Foundation through cultivation and follow-up with
    existing donors to ultimately increase their giving.
  • Primary point of contact for cultural arts donor
    stewardship.
  • Work with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and
    MAC Director to develop a Moves Management plan for each assigned
    donor.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff from cultural art
    programs to identify program needs and identify potential
    prospects.
  • Assist in the development of promotional materials in order to
    help obtain strategically identified funds and gifts.
  • Develop and manage advisory boards.
  • Help lead and strategize the annual gala and manage the
    meetings and volunteer committee.
  • Develop, manage, and steward a portfolio of at least 100
    prospects and donors for event sponsorships, mid-level, major and
    deferred gifts.
  • Build a network of cultural arts friends and donor
    patrons.
  • Support the College of DuPage Cultural Arts Committee and the
    Director of MAC in their fundraising efforts, including but not
    limited to, raising funds for the cultural arts via the Year End
    Appeal, and the major art exhibitions and galas and other special
    events for the cultural arts.
  • Support the Cultural Arts Council and the Director of MAC in
    their fundraising efforts.
  • Make group presentations and attend select events and meetings
    as assigned by the Vice President for Institutional
    Advancement.
  • Raise funds for Mac treat seats for under resourced individuals
    and audiences interested in attending Mac events.
  • Plan and execute invites for three summer donor dinners at
    Lakeside for NP, MAC, and BTE donors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, or related field
      required.
    • Master’s Degree in Business, Communications, or related field
      preferred.
    • Experience in sales, cultural arts and educational fundraising
      preferred.
  • Experience
    • Minimum six (6) years in resource development or related field
      (sales, etc.), with proven success in private philanthropy in the
      annual to major gift ranges required.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interest in
      the cultural arts required.
    • Experienced in writing plans and managing projects from
      conception through execution required.
    • Proficient with standard computer systems and software and web
      research abilities required.
    • Experience in maintaining individual relationships with donors
      and prospects.
    • Experience working with Raiser’s Edge preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and
    PowerPoint) and Raiser’s Edge are essential.
  • Open office environment, but much time to be spent in
    face-to-face contact with donors, involving substantial local
    travel, as well as significant weekend and evening hours to attend
    performances and events with donors.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.
  • Hybrid Remote Eligible: Yes

    Hiring Range:
    Classified 15 Salary Factor 105/100,000.00 – 110,000.00

    Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.
