OUR STORY

The Central Land Council (CLC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The CLC represents traditional landowners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people in the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres.

The CLC provides its constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights.

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PLAN

THE ROLE

MANAGER, LAND MANAGEMENT STRATEGY – LM001 – ALICE SPRINGS

SO A – $145,046 – ONGOING POSITION

Lead the effective operation of the Land Management section to ensure Aboriginal peoples’ rights and interests are supported in matters relating to Land Management in the Central Land Council (CLC) region. Particularly in regards to issues or programs related to:

  • responses to government and non‐government interests in the management of Aboriginal land;
  • joint management arrangements in Northern Territory national parks;
  • leasing and land use arrangements, particularly in regards to pastoral use of Aboriginal land;
  • support for Carbon and Nature based market and agribusiness opportunities for Aboriginal people in the CLC region;
  • fire management and planning;
  • resolution of unresolved Aboriginal land needs by land purchase (e.g. pastoral leases), living area negotiations and other land acquisition strategies;
  • achieving employment and other beneficial outcomes for traditional owners from mining, pastoral, agribusiness and other land use agreements on Aboriginal land.

BENEFITS

Total effective package includes: base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, relocation assistance, annual airfare allowance and salary packaging options. Annual progression within the salary scale is subject to satisfactory performance. Progression is in accordance with annual increments set out in an enterprise agreement.
