  • $115 537 gross per annum + super + generous salary packaging

The Miranda Project provides specialist support, for clients, providing a continuum of support aimed at addressing the complex and diverse needs of clients. This includes working with clients who are seeking bail or community-based sentences as an alternative to custodial sentences. The Manager, Miranda Project will provide leadership and supervision of Miranda Project staff, as well as oversight of day-to-day operations of the project, including Miranda Case Work Service, Miranda Hub Programs and community development.

CRC’s Miranda Project is co-located within the Penrith Women’s Health Centre, Liverpool Women’s Health Centre and other hubs. The Manager will work with key stakeholders to ensure support to people who identify as female or non-binary in the criminal justice system who are victims of/ or at risk of family and domestic violence.

The Manager will also be responsible for ensuring the project works in culturally appropriate ways in recognition of the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in custody and the unique cultural needs of this cohort.

Your responsibilities will include providing leadership to the Penrith and newly established Liverpool hubs, overseeing the Miranda Hub Program including delivering drop-in case work and psychoeducational family and domestic violence workshops and other groups, and to manage Miranda Project staff and volunteers.

Using your excellent communication and networking skills you will oversee strength-based holistic case-management for clients with the aim of establishing and maintaining safe living in the community, free of violence. You will develop strategic connections and productive relationships with key external stakeholders and liaise and network with relevant community, government and non-government organisations to ensure appropriate referral sources for clients.

To join us, you’ll need:

  • To identify as a women
  • Tertiary qualifications in welfare, health or related field and or/significant practical and theoretical knowledge of working with women with complex needs (including intellectual disability, cognitive impairment, mental illness, AOD etc.)
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs and issues facing women involved in the criminal justice system at risk of domestic and family violence
  • Knowledge and skills relating to child development, current child protection issues and legislation
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and knowledge of issues relating to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and CALD communities
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate confidently and engage with staff
  • Experience in the provision of strength-based, critically reflective, staff supervision
  • Demonstrated human resource skills including conflict management, grievance handling and work health & safety
  • Demonstrated project administration and development skills, including ability to maintain service budgets and compliance with funding agreements
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with and build productive relationships with other organisations and services
  • Demonstrated computer skills including database, Microsoft Office 2007-2010 (especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Driver license
  • First aid certificate
  • A current NSW Working with Children Check and criminal record check (please note, a criminal record is not a barrier to being considered for a role with CRC).
