JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for increasing revenue from
institutional donors and growing the donor base for the National
Trust for Historic Preservation across all National Trust
departments and platforms; managing high-level operational
functions and projects; and providing writing and project
management support within the Development Division as it relates to
increasing contributed revenue from and building relationships with
local, regional and national foundations, corporations, and
government agencies with a focus on gifts up to $100k+. This
position serves as a key liaison between Development Division staff
and the Preservation team, as well as Finance and Administration
teams. This position requires a driven professional with expert
grant writing, reporting and prospecting skills. The ideal
candidate is creative and flexible with stellar attention to detail
and the professional maturity to effectively resolve ongoing
challenges and a wide variety of evolving projects and
tasks.
DUTIES
- Works within the Institutional Giving team to develop and drive
revenue to meet annual revenue requirements through foundation and
government giving programs. - Establishes a new fundraising program to grow unrestricted
revenue from foundations. The new program will include annual
revenue targets and goals. - Plans and executes solicitations aimed at securing revenue to
support organizational operations, programs, and projects to meet
short-term and long-term revenue targets. - Conducts research and identifies new prospects and revenue
sources for a variety of National Trust initiatives. Works
collaboratively to establish projected ask amounts, use of gift,
and timeline. - Writes, edits, and submits proposals for institutional support,
including the creation and assembly of relevant attachments.
Develops proposal budgets in collaboration with Finance team and
various program managers across the Preservation team. - Develops and manages a robust portfolio of existing and
prospective institutional donors in CRM. Uses CRM system to manage
donor and prospect information, including moves management of the
assigned donor pipeline, including recording contact reports and
significant donor interactions. - Manages stewardship of a portfolio of institutional donors,
including preparing interim and final grant reports. Leads
collaboration of relevant program and finance team members to
ensure timely, accurate reporting. Assists in donor stewardship and
reporting needs across the full institutional giving
portfolio. - Identifies opportunities to engage the Individual Giving team
on collaborative fundraising efforts and provides regular updates
on programmatic needs across the organization to Development
colleagues. - Collaborates with the Development Communications team to manage
and execute donor communications. Helps ensure timely and
appropriate acknowledgement, recognition, and
stewardship. - Participates in major meetings and events throughout the year
(virtual and in-person) to stay abreast of programs and initiatives
at the National Trust and in the larger preservation field. - Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 5 years of professional level experience required in
fundraising and nonprofit management. - Excellent writing, editing, spelling, grammar, and proofreading
skills. - Strong verbal communication, presentation, and customer service
skills. Must be comfortable initiating contact with prospective
donors and working collaboratively across divisions within a
complex organization. - Proven ability to manage large or complex projects, build
relationships with staff and stakeholders, and collaborate across
departments to implement processes and achieve results. - Experience researching and vetting donor prospects for
nonprofit fundraising. Ability to analyze and determine
philanthropic alignment between donor and program. - Must be highly motivated, comfortable working in a team
setting, and a conscientious self-starter with strong time
management skills and excellent attention to detail. - Ability to prioritize, adapt, multi-task efficiently, and
respond to a high volume of ongoing requests in an accurate and
timely fashion. - Advanced organizational, analytical, and problem-solving
skills, including issue identification and prioritization. - Ability to achieve results with general supervision.
- When working in the office, public contact and the ability to
work successfully in close proximity to others are required.
When working off site, the ability to work effectively in a remote
environment, maintaining productivity and communications to meet
deadlines and goals, is required. - Demonstrated success in engaging culturally diverse colleagues
and stakeholders. - Proven ability to continually develop skills related to use of
changing technology and communications best practices. - Experience and knowledge of using CRM database management
systems. - Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office programs. Must be
comfortable with remote-work programs and protocols. Experience
with Teams and/or Zoom a plus. - Regular and reliable attendance (in person and virtually) is
required. - Some travel required.
PAY & BENEFITS This is a full-time, exempt
level position, eligible for full benefits, including health,
dental and life insurance, retirement benefits, and 3+ weeks of
vacation, plus sick time and holidays. Hiring Range: $69,000
– 74,000 per year
