About the Role
The Manager, Office of the Dean is responsible for the effective management of the operations of the office, including the smooth functioning of key business support services to the Dean and the Faculty Executive Director, and for ensuring adherence to governance frameworks, principles of corporate governance and University and Faculty protocols. The Manager, Office of the Dean will manage processes, business activities and projects which improve the quality, impact, and efficiency of the Faculty of Science.

The Manager, Office of the Dean reports to the Faculty Executive Director (FED).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide informed advisory support to the FED and the Dean to facilitate decision making and planning
  • Work with Faculty leadership, including Associate Deans, Directors and Heads of Schools, to ensure alignment of operational plans to strategic objectives
  • Work closely with the FED in the development and implementation of the strategic and operational planning processes, monitor progress throughout the year, evaluate outcomes and make recommendations for change
  • Prepare a variety of written materials to support the Dean and the FED, including briefing notes, summaries of complex issues, correspondence, policy documents, briefings, submissions and regular and coordinated reports. Ensure that the Dean is fully briefed and prepared for key Faculty and University matters.
  • Management of the Office of the Dean and its staff, ensuring the effective provision of assistance to the Dean and the FED, and oversight of policies, procedures, and corporate governance.

Who We Are Looking For
You will possess demonstrated organizational, administrative, and project management skills, along with a fundamental understanding and commitment to maintaining confidentiality. Your ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders, manage relationships, and meet expectations, coupled with supervisory experience in leading and managing teams, and a proven track record within complex governance and policy frameworks, will make you a valuable asset to the role.

You will also have:

  • An undergraduate qualification in a relevant field with extensive experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Exceptional communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to draft various forms of communications.
  • Demonstrated integrity, presence, and ability to exercise sound judgement.
  • Proven ability to act autonomously and with initiative, including the ability to formulate, develop and implement ideas whilst also able to work cooperatively as part of a broader team.
