The Practice Excellence and Quality Area/Branch of VFST is core to ensuring that the services provided by Foundation House to clients and communities are delivered to the highest standard and are in line with organisational purpose, priorities, and obligations.

The Practice Excellence and Quality Area/Branch is responsible for:

  • Leading the design, delivery and implementation of practice development support and programs for all Foundation House staff in collaboration and partnership with the broader leadership team.
  • Lead the design and delivery of external training aimed at supporting the work of the sector and broader mental health and wellbeing services to deliver trauma-informed care to communities from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds.
  • Leading the coordination of quality improvement initiatives for the organisation’s service delivery arms.
  • Leading the coordination and reporting of performance and quality measures to inform quality improvement initiatives and maintain a focus on practice excellence.

The role

The Manager Practice Development (MPD) will be responsible for leading initiatives and processes designed to build practice excellence within VFST and across the mental health and wellbeing sector. This includes oversight of the delivery of the VFST Professional Practice Development Framework featuring supervision, communities of practice, training, and complex case consultations. as the Manager will also lead in partnership with other senior management analysis, identification, design, and delivery of practice improvement initiatives based on need.

This position plays a key role in ensuring that our client, community capacity building, sector development support is of the highest quality and in accordance with the Foundation House Integrated Trauma Recovery Service Model, Rebuilding Shattered Lives, and international best practice. The Manager, Practice Development reports to the General Manager, Practice Excellence.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership of the Practice Development Team in accordance with practice needs and obligations.
  • Lead, in partnership with senior management, implementation and oversight of key practice elements of the Victorian Government’s Community Services Quality Governance Framework within Foundation House.
  • Actively contribute to and inform the development, implementation, and oversight of quality measures in line with the Community Services Quality Governance Framework and practice needs.
  • Work in a highly collegiate and integrated manner with other Senior Managers and General Managers in the agency to ensure that VFST operates optimally regarding its client and community service delivery and the delivery of the VFST strategic plan.

This role is a full-time, ongoing position based in our Brunswick Head Office; some travel to our other Melbourne offices may be required.

What you’ll need to successfully apply

To be successful, you will need to positively respond to the below selection criteria:

  • Post graduate qualification in psychology, social work or other related disciplines, with a practice and quality improvement focus.
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of and delivering professional learning and training in working with complex trauma.
  • Leadership experience in managing and overseeing complex clinical and psychosocial assessments, case planning and counselling and advocacy responses to people with complex trauma experiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in community and sector capacity-building programs, as well as quality improvement initiatives.
