About the role

Within Victoria’s largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, VACCA, the Manager, Research and Innovation (Identified) is a pivotal role in steering and executing research that integrates Aboriginal methodologies. This position involves leading VACCA’s culturally informed research and innovation initiatives, facilitating the development of a research agenda grounded in Indigenous approaches, and overseeing the design and execution of research projects. The Manager ensures that VACCA’s research strategies, policies, and procedures reflect Indigenous research principles. Additionally, the Manager fosters relationships with key research stakeholders, including government bodies, researchers, and academic institutions. This role also includes leading the evaluation of pilot programs and new initiatives and managing VACCA’s internal Research Advisory Group.

About You

VACCA is looking for a candidate with a strong commitment to its values and an understanding of Aboriginal cultures and contemporary issues. The ideal candidate should have a solid grasp of Indigenous research methods, experience in culturally informed research or evaluations, and proficiency in written communication. They should be skilled in building research partnerships, managing research teams, and handling project management tasks such as client negotiations, scheduling, budgeting, and risk assessment. A commitment to professional development and excellent interpersonal skills are also essential. Desirable qualifications include experience managing research programs with diverse stakeholders and supporting new practices or programs.
