Manager, Software Engineering (Blended)Overview of Position:As a software development manager leading the Blended Networks Development Team, you will be working with a team of software, systems and DevOps engineers, to develop and deliver continuous improvements on the scalability, reliability, and security of our product infrastructure. Your team will be responsible for designing, deploying and maintaining critical cloud-based infrastructure and remote networking systems.A successful candidate will be capable of working independently, actively and confidently promote improvements, and incorporate new technologies, throughout the lifecycle of each product.What you will do:Lead a development team in the design, development, testing and debugging of applications.Facilitate agile ceremonies and backlog grooming and prioritization.Lead goals and development objectives setting for each team member.Provide mentoring and guidance to software developers of varying experience.Design development standards and oversee their continuous improvement and adoption.Cultivate a team culture promoting transparency, accountability and growth.Design and deploy CI/CD pipelines for predictable and repeatable product builds and deployments.Design observability, monitoring and alerting systems for remote and cloud-based systems.What we need from you:5+ years of experience in software or systems engineering.Experience with cloud services and designs (AWS).Experience in SQL and caching databases (e.g., MySQL, Postgres, Redis).Experience with source version control (e.g., git, bitbucket).Experience with DevOps practices and tools (Cloudformation, Ansible, docker).Experience in scripting (e.g., bash, python).Experience in software (e.g., c,c++).Good understanding of the software development life-cycle.Experience working with Scrum and the Agile methodology.Excellent communication skills.Even better if you have:Experience in managing people and/or technical projects.Experience in decision making and trade-offs.Proficiency with system and networking design and routing (e.g., BGP, OSPF, Static, VPN’s).Proficiency in software defined switching/networking (e.g., Openvswitch).Proficiency in the Linux network stack (routing & firewall).Working at Speedcast:At Speedcast, we want people that like adventure.
