Position description

The future of media freedom in Europe is challenging. Media deserts with extinction of local media, SLAPPs (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation), state control of media, and accusing journalists of being enemies. All in the core of ECPMF’s work.

Qualifications

We are searching for a Managing Director based in Leipzig, Germany. Our Director is expected to have experiences and skills in:

Leading and encouraging an innovative team with a lot of knowledge and experience;
Experience in journalism;
Proven experience in leadership;
Knowledge about both German and European media policy;
Cooperative approach to partners and other stakeholders;
Experience in application management and project development;
Political understanding – also understanding behind the lines;
Innovative thinking for further development of the organisation;
Understanding and respecting the roles of boards and management;
Fluent in English and German – writing and speaking;
Skills in third languages will be an advantage;
Furthermore, the director is expected to be based in Leipzig.
