Consequence of Error/Judgement
The Canadian Journal of Development Studies/ / Revue canadienne d’études du développement (CJDS) is a nationally based, internationally oriented journal with an international reputation. It is the flagship journal of Canada’s international development studies association, CASID. The journal’s Aims and Scope statement describes it as a “peer-reviewed, inter-disciplinary, bilingual forum for critical research and reflection on the complex problems of international development theory, policy and practice”.
CJDS is a quarterly journal and is bilingual: each article, book review or other scholarly contribution is published in either French or English but not in both languages; article abstracts are in both languages. At least one issue a year is a thematic special issue, and the journal often features thematic sections. The journal publishes 32 articles and a number of book reviews each year. Measured by citation impact factor, CJDS is amongst the top interdisciplinary social science journals edited in Canada. In 2023, the impact factor reached 2.50 – the highest to date.
Poor judgement in the exercise of administrative decision-making could jeopardize funding opportunities and negatively impact the journal’s operations and reputation. Failure to execute a high level of editorial rigour and superior communication skills could adversely impact the journal’s relationships with its contributing authors, publisher and reputation. The overall effect of judgement error could harm the journal’s reputational standing in the academic community and impede its ability to attract high quality academic contributors.
Poor management of time would adversely affect the schedules of the Journal, undermine the Journal’s reputation, and impair its ability to successfully attract future authors and submissions.
Supervision Received
Works autonomously within guidelines established jointly by the Editor-in-Chief and the Deputy Editors and the host institution to meet the aims and scope of the Journal in a timely manner. Work is reviewed in terms of achievement of goals.
Supervision Given
