Overview

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Marine Conservation Scientist, Nature Positive

Major Function

World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is one of the world’s leading conservation organizations. The WWF-US Oceans team has developed a conservation strategy with a vision of enabling healthy oceans that not only benefit the planet and where people thrive, but also where societies are more prosperous and the world is more peaceful. The strategy takes an integrated approach to our oceans, combining place-based seascape conservation work with global scale markets, and blue finance, as well as looks to the future and the potential impacts that climate change will have on ocean health, peace, and security. The strategy has ambitious goals of making significant contributions towards a nature positive future – in which the loss of nature is halted and reversed by 2030 – including through seascapes and engagements with the public and private sectors. Nature positive is a concept that has gained momentum and interest, including through adoption in the Global Biodiversity Framework and by the private sector, and requires further scientific capacity to guide ocean stakeholders. WWF seeks a Marine Conservation Scientist: Nature Positive to conduct scientific analyses and develop actionable science-based recommendations for key target audiences.

Under the supervision of the Director of Nature Positive for Oceans, the Marine Conservation Scientist—Nature Positive will contribute to the development of scientific products needed for key stakeholders to credibly contribute to a nature-positive future.
