We are looking for a Marine Policy Officer to join RSPB Scotland’s expert Policy & Advocacy
team, working to secure the legal and policy frameworks needed to drive nature’s recovery in
Scotland and beyond!
Steep declines in seabird populations are a clear signal that urgent action is needed to
protect and recover Scotland’s coasts and seas. You will help us secure major gains for nature
by developing and advocating RSPB Scotland’s policies to address the key drivers of
biodiversity loss in the marine environment. Particular areas of focus are likely to include
the regulation of fisheries and the creation and management of Marine Protected Areas and
Highly Protected Marine Areas.
You will join at a critical time for Scotland and will help place restoring the health of the
seas high on the political agenda and at the heart of tackling the nature and climate
emergency. We are looking for a passionate conservationist, with excellent topic knowledge and
ability to analyse complex issues in a fast paced environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual to influence the future of marine
nature conservation within the largest wildlife charity in Europe.
The role could be based anywhere within Scotland but travel to Edinburgh and to other locations
across Scotland and the UK will frequently be required
