Job Description
JRS/USA seeks support to cover parental leave for the Web & Marketing Officer. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, this temporary full-time position (40 hours per week; up to 13 weeks beginning in late April), will ensure JRS/USA maintains its strong digital audience – including donors and advocates – and executes on planned communications activities.
Job Responsibilities
Lead JRS/USA website and digital properties:
- Develop and lead SEO strategy as it relates to website and digital growth.
- Post stories or content for all departments.
- Update web pages and code where issues arise or with new information.
- Support, where appropriate, JRS global properties.
- Enhance Digital User Experience
- Provide other technical digital support to other departments (e.g. Development & Fundraising).
- Build and drive SEO strategy, support content development with SEO additions (e.g. meta-descriptions, key words) and manage SEO consultant and maintenance of Google Grant and help build AdWord campaigns.
- Create and manage social media advertisements (e.g. Facebook Ads Manager) and support Marketing & Communications Director in digital advertising strategy.
Social media management:
- Perform research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences.
- Design and implement social media strategies to align with business goals.
- Set specific objectives and report on ROI.
- Generate, edit, publish, and share engaging content daily (e.g. original text, photos, videos and news).
- Monitor SEO and web traffic metrics.
- Oversee design of social media accounts (e.g. Facebook timeline cover, profile pictures and blog layout).
- Suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness.
Support implementation of JRS/USA’s overall communications strategy as needed:
- Develop ideas for content, campaigns, and strategies to help JRS/USA’s overall communications strategy.
- Contribute to production of content (web stories, videos, social media, stories, and publications) that engages JRS/USA’s key audience and leads to measurable action.
- Collaborate with global communications staff.
Create content for monthly updates:
- Create content and send out monthly board update email from May through July.
- Create content and send out monthly e-newsletter from May through July.
Drive JRS/USA communications analytics:
- Report regularly using Google Analytics and other data sources.
- Work with Data Operations Manager to manage data across JRS sources, and use data to understand performance of content, campaigns, or initiatives.
- Build system for tracking audience reach (e.g. use of UTM codes).
- Tag and track news stories and media mentions.
Coordinate regularly with colleagues:
- Check-in weekly with Director of Marketing & Communications.
- Check in weekly with Editorial Content Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related area of study.
- Minimum 4 years of experience working in communications, digital marketing, or web strategy or development.
- Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Hootsuite or other scheduling software.
- Experience with social media management and social media advertising.
- Experience with WordPress (or other website backends) and tools to enhance digital presence including SEO/SEM and experience with CRM or other data management systems a plus.
Hourly Rate: $29 – $34
