The five practice areas are Company Commercial, Litigation & Dispute Management, Employment, Labor and Pensions, Real Estate and Konexo, our alternative legal services business.Our Marketing & BD team works across five key areas: Strategy, Clients, Pitch, Regions and Operational. Our Strategy team is responsible for devising and implementing strategy and activates across all areas of our business.The Eversheds Sutherland Marketing Team operates and supports our business around the globe. Join us if you thrive in an environment where you are genuinely empowered to lead and deliver on highly strategic and innovative client-facing programmes and projects.Role and key responsibilitiesWe require a savvy and energetic professional, experienced in developing and delivering marketing and business development programs and campaigns across traditional and digital platforms. In this role you will be working alongside a global team of lawyers and business professionals to elevate the firm’s profile and expand our relationships with the world’s leading financial services organizations.An understanding of the financial services industry and a desire to immerse into the sector are key to success in this role.There are currently a series of ‘Impact Projects’ which underpin the sector’s market strategy. These include Technology in Financial Services, ESG and Sustainable Finance, Private Capital and others. In this role, you will work under the direction of the Financial Services Sector Marketing and Business Development Manager to execute all aspects of your assigned projects and initiatives. Specifically, you will be working directly with Partner leads on identifying and interpreting trends and deciding what our actionable response and market positioningshould be. You will work as a key part of the wider Strategy team, drawing-in and working on key campaigns and activities relevant to the sector, with other practice group, sector, and country marketing and business development leads.The role is fast-paced, with high expectations of achieving measurable success in supporting client conversations, brand awareness and revenue generation. This is an international role, requiring a global outlook and ability to work collaboratively across teams and jurisdictions to deliver against our priorities. The role requires someone who:

  • understands the financial services industry, business issues, and drivers of change,
  • is creative, diligent, and tenacious,
  • can connect the firm’s strengths to our client’s needs,
  • is equally skilled in strategy design AND execution,
  • can distill big picture themes and objectives into discreet actions and work independently to execute,
  • can analyse data and create informative, actionable reports
  • is able to collaborate effectively within a matrixed environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Executing client-centric marketing and business development programs that are aligned with the sector strategy and enable revenue generation
  • Managing and participating in internal working groups aligned with sector priorities
  • Owning projects and processes, working with project teams to track and document progress
  • Developing content and collateral (e.g. web pages, brochures, capability statements)
  • Supporting the development of pitches and proposals
  • Liaising with industry trade bodies and other outside parties to identify platforms (e.g. conferences, working groups, research projects) the firm can leverage to raise our profile within the industry
  • Collaborating with stakeholders in other teams, sectors, practices, and geographies to deliver FS projects and initiatives
  • Producing internal and external communications and reports
  • Managing tasks across administrative and organizational functions to ensure smooth, efficient operations and processes

Skills and experience

  • Previous experience in marketing, business development, or strategy roles within a professional services firm (legal, accounting, consulting) or a financial services organization
  • A basic understanding of the business issues, regulatory environment and drivers of change impacting the financial services industry
  • Professional curiosity and an aptitude for continuous learning
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Ability to think and act globally in a professional services environment
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Digital marketing skills (e.g. LinkedIn, podcast production, web content creation)
  • Precision and attention to detail
  • Commercially minded and able to link business development and marketing activities to tangible client-facing outcomes
  • Strong organisational and time management skills and an ability to manage a busy workload
  • Agility and the ability to assess and readjust priorities when needed
  • Excellent operational planning, execution and follow-up
  • Innovative thinking to challenge existing business development and marketing activity, bringing best practices from previous experience
  • Ability to analyse data and create reports that tell a story and enable decision making and action
  • Financial literacy and the ability to manage discreet marketing budgets
