Reverse Garbage is many things to many people. This role manages our contact with all of our different audiences to keep them engaged with our vision – which is to inspire people to make reuse their first choice.
Our Communications Manager needs to be enthusiastic about reuse so that they can confidently encourage others to be inspired and follow the same path.

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary purpose of the role is to manage, deliver and measure communications across all channels to proactively and positively promote Reverse Garbage and its activities to diverse audiences.
The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for leveraging best practices communication tools to build relationships between Reverse Garbage and its many audiences – donors, customers, corporates, educators, researchers, and the community. We are looking for a dynamic and agile worker who thrives in a busy and unique environment.
Key duties include:
- Development and implementation of effective marketing and communication strategies involving traditional and digital media to promote our brand, services, and programs that lead to growth and expansion for Reverse Garbage
- Production of high-quality content for a variety of communication platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google, website, blogs, flyers, e-newsletters, noticeboards
- Maintain direct and effective communication with customers and members
- Identifying grant or other funding opportunities and preparing applications
- In house graphic design of all collateral (e.g. business cards, posters, signage, craft packs)
- Event management, including creative markets, media events, project or document launches
- Preparation of Annual Report copy. Coordination of design with external graphic designer
- Creating media opportunities to highlight and advertise RG’s reuse, sustainability and education activities
- Preparation and distribution of media releases
- Other duties as required by the CEO
EXPERIENCE
- Excellent communication skills – particularly written
- Experience in building social media audiences organically with creative flare
- Ability to build rapport with a diverse range of customers, donors, staff and volunteers
- Attention to detail
- Creative thinking (we do not have big budgets, so we need to be clever and resourceful to get results)
- Able to manage priorities effectively in a dynamic team and working environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Canva for design, MailChimp, WordPress, Meta Business Suite, Google Platforms
- Experience with Hubspot or similar CRMs
- Ability to track and analyse success or failure of EDMs and social media campaigns
