College of Community Innovation and Education – Communications: 

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Community Innovation and Education (CCIE) is a one-of-a-kind academic unit with distinct, interdisciplinary expertise and potential for partnership with community stakeholders, conceived to address societal challenges and work alongside the community. Established in 2018, the college offers undergraduate and graduate programs on the main campus and UCF Downtown. At the heart of the college’s mission is the institutional commitment to transform lives and strengthen society by developing a unified vision and innovative solutions to complex social issues. CCIE promotes innovation through state-of-the-art interdisciplinary research with social impact, contemporary inclusive teaching and learning practices, and preeminent services for the disciplines, the institution, and the community.

The Opportunity:

The Marketing and Communications Specialist I will create compelling content that showcases the college’s high-impact research, innovative instructional experiences, community and partnership impact, and student and alumni success. This position will report to the College’s communications direct and work closely with the College’s academic leaders, faculty, and staff housed on the main campus and UCF Downtown.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, research, and pitch potential stories; interview faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners/stakeholders; write copy for external and internal communication platforms.

  • Assist in developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating marketing plans, copy and assets for academic units.

  • Create compelling content for websites and digital/print assets. Ensure digital content is accessible, SEO optimized, and follows UCF brand and AP writing style.

  • Coordinate social media accounts for assigned academic departments, including identifying goals and audiences for specific accounts; assisting with social media calendar; creating and scheduling posts; monitoring and responding to messages and comments; and analyzing efforts through analytics. Ensure digital content is accessible and follows the UCF brand and AP writing style.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) . 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year or more of related professional experience

  • Strong writing skills, including experience with web copy.

  • Knowledge of AP style.

  • Experience with coordinating social media accounts for a large organization.

  • Knowledge of email software, WordPress, and design and photo editing programs (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or other programs)

  • Some photography experience.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and multiple stakeholders.
