Tasmanian Walking Company (TWC) has a rich history in eco-tourism, dating back to 1987 with the launch of the iconic Cradle Mountain Huts Walk. Over the following thirty years, TWC has expanded its offering to deliver a collection of outstanding guided walks including the Bay of Fires Lodge Walk, Wineglass Bay Sail Walk, Three Capes Lodge Walk, and the Bruny Island Long Weekend.

In 2015, TWC moved to the mainland, launching a partnership with the Australian Walking Company (AWC), which started with the acquisition of the Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk and now continues with a vision to create new guided-walk experiences on mainland Australia. Collectively TWC, AWC and the Tas Walking Co Foundation are internally known as ‘The Walking Group’ (TWG).

In 2022, our expansion now includes “Guided by Nature”, taking The Walking Group’s legacy to a global scale, bringing an array of unique walks across diverse continents, each meticulously crafted by the same passionate team behind our iconic Tasmanian experiences.

As we venture beyond our familiar landscapes, “Guided by Nature” remains steadfast in our commitment to sustainable operations within sensitive environments and our dedication to delivering outstanding guided walks. Our new international walks are imbued with the same values that have earned us acclaim and recognition, including multiple State and National tourism awards and our induction into the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame in 2017.

About the role:

This is a full-time permanent position, working with a team of passionate professionals behind you who engage with your ongoing development and learning.

The Marketing Coordinator works with the Marketing team to uphold the company DNA across all brands whilst maximising the marketing performance of TWG. This role reports to the Marketing Manager, the role’s responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Implement the multi-channel content strategy developed by the Marketing Manager, in line with the broader Sales and Marketing strategy.
  • Develop search optimised content across all websites, designed to drive organic search traffic.
  • Feed content that aligns with strategic content pillars to stakeholders including organic and paid advertising
  • Use website content management systems to efficiently upload content.
  • Make updates to marketing collateral in programs such as InDesign and Canva.
  • Manage and organise visual library and distribute suitable content to partners as required.
  • Work in HubSpot marketing automation software to develop assets for campaign delivery.
  • Utilise HubSpot marketing email marketing tools to design and develop content in line with the content strategy.
  • Have a good eye for detail when working with videographers and photographers to form detailed briefs, coordinate content shoots and organise talent that results in high quality and engaging deliverables.
  • Community management skills to assist with social listening while maintaining our brand voice working, closely with the Social Media Coordinator.
  • Develop content for itineraries and new walks, making adjustments as required in the Adobe Suite of products.
  • Support the Marketing Manager, and broader Marketing team with the delivery of projects.

The team work from heritage listed Chalmers Church, located in the heart of the Launceston CBD. A convict-built landmark that was thoughtfully restored into a functional open plan office, staying true to the gothic revival architecture that makes this building truly unique. With sunlight streaming through the original stained windows, Chalmers is a vibrant and stylish office that’s also reflective of the fun and supportive culture of our team.

What you will bring:

We are looking for a passionate, organised individual who is creative, pragmatic and possesses strong attention to detail.

The ideal candidate for this key role will have the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in a marketing role, preferably within the tourism industry.
  • Good working knowledge of social media advertisement trends.
  • Confident rapport building and business relationship management capabilities.
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated capacity to work independently.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using a content management system and marketing automation software (desirable).
  • Excited and passionate about the multi-day walking industry as a whole.
  • Bachelor Degree in Business or Marketing (or other relevant qualification).
