Job Summary
The Marketing Officer will play a critical role in implementing agriculture and Agri small business development activities within the Yazidi Empowerment Project (YEP). The role is specifically focused on helping farmers adopt an entrepreneurial mindset and improve their access to markets. The Marketing Officer will identify viable markets for YEP products, support farmers in building competitive agribusinesses, facilitate targeted business and marketing trainings, and provide individualized coaching. Samaritans Purse is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual with strong agricultural marketing experience and a passion for empowering communities with dignity and respect.
Job Duties:
- Conduct market mapping and value chain analysis for greenhouse vegetables and other relevant agricultural products.
- Contribute to YEP Community Center curriculum development, training, and market linkage as needed to enhance the quality and long-term impact of courses.
- Uphold the SP Code of Conduct at all times.
- Any other duties as required by his/her supervisor.
- Lead the development and execution of market access strategies, including identifying buyers, facilitating contracts, managing product quality, and ensuring timely transportation and delivery.
- Increase visibility and demand for YEP products through targeted outreach, including local exhibitions, coordination with buyers, and promotional activities.
- Design and deliver business and marketing training for farmers, small business owners, and to youth when needed covering topics such as branding, sales, pricing, negotiation, record-keeping, customer engagement, and employability skills.
- Provide one-on-one support to beneficiaries to strengthen their entrepreneurial capacity and expand their business opportunities.
- Facilitate the formation and strengthening of farmer groups or clusters to enable collective marketing, bulk purchasing, and increased bargaining power.
- Advise on strategies to diversify crops based on market assessments, add value to products, and enhance product presentation and packaging.
- Enhance business training curricula and support graduates in accessing real market opportunities.
- Track market trends and collect regular data on harvests, pricing, trader activity, and buyer feedback to inform program decisions.
- Document success stories, lessons learned, and challenges to share with the Agriculture and management team.
- Report any beneficiary concerns to the management team and participate in regular team meetings.
