We are seeking a high-impact intern to assist with policy campaigns in Massachusetts. Working with the New England Conservation Policy Coordinator, the Massachusetts Conservation Policy Intern will support efforts to advance the Mass Ready Act and contribute to AMC’s role in the Nature for MA coalition seeking to put the Protect Water and Nature Initiative on the 2026 ballot.  

What You’ll Be Doing At AMC

• Promote Volunteer & Chapter Engagement – Help plan, promote, and lead volunteer signature collection events across AMC chapters; support volunteer trainings and, when possible, independently lead events.
• Cross-Department Coordination – Assist in organizing campaign-related efforts across AMC staff teams and track volunteer participation and engagement with the coalition.
• Legislative Support – Support outreach to state legislators, including drafting communications, doing research, and assisting in planning events connected to AMC’s legislative priorities.
• Coalition Support – Contribute to AMC’s role in the Nature for MA coalition, with potential to represent AMC on the Field Subcommittee that is coordinating the signature-gathering drive and assist with coalition-wide public outreach efforts.
• Event Support – Assist with planning and staffing AMC advocacy events beyond Nature for MA, such as Trails for All, the New England National Scenic Trail, and Land and Water Conservation Fund efforts

What AMC Is Looking For

• Ability to self-direct and independently manage tasks as well as collaborate with others.
• High degree of professionalism and ability to represent AMC effectively.
• Ability to work with diverse constituencies in a respectful and collaborative manner.
• Professional writing skills.
• Experience or education in conservation and/or a passion for conservation policy and campaigns.
• Passion for outdoor recreation, conservation, and environmental advocacy

What AMC Can Offer You 

Salary range: $18/hour for up to 15 hours per week for a maximum of 10 weeks

The initial salary represents our starting point, and our compensation philosophy is designed to reward and recognize the contributions of our employees as they grow within the organization. External candidates typically begin their journey with us at the starting point of the salary range. The final compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, skills and geographic differential relevant to the position, and will be discussed during the interview process.
