Main function and area of responsibilty
Operational Deployment of MDD according to SOP and by respecting safety distances as defined.
MDD’s operations in working lane or box, following instructions on the method of the work.
Conducts internal control and accreditation.
Maintaining the required standard of training, hygiene and cleanliness within the kennel area
Informing the MDD team Leader of any changes in the kennel during the last 24 hours.
Conducts control of cleaned working lanes or boxes by observing on daily basis and using metal detectors.
Reporting to MDD team Leader in case of deterring violations of SOP or other irregularities in the work of MDD teams
Organizes training of dogs and handlers within his team, according to the instructions obtained by MDD teams’ advisor/trainer. Makes sure that they achieve requested quality in the process of obtaining NMAC accreditation.
Ensures that all dogs are well taken care of and in good health both during operations and in the kennel
Verification of performed daily tasks and planning the tasks for the following day.
Entering of daily progress in work folder, making reports on daily progress and forwarding reports to MDD team Leader at the end of working hours
Providing necessary operative information for MDD team Leader.
Daily control of maintenance of protective and MDD equipment, tools and transport vehicles.
Preparation, maintenance and control of storage of necessary operative equipment
Walking their dogs and carrying out the daily health check early each working day.
Conducting daily capability test
Full control over MDD’s and minimize down time, daily fill in MDD Log book, measuring productivity.
Reporting all irregularities (according to check list) regarding their own MDD or any other MDD belonging to their section.
Having full control of all the issued personal equipment necessary to perform mine clearance according to this SOP and national standards.
Following a detailed maintenance and development training program for on MDD to be used during operations and after or before scheduled operations (following program/instruction by NPA MDD team Leader).
Plan a kennel routine schedule for each kennel assistance with the aim to maximize rest during kennelling.
Carrying out a detailed (according to check list) control of the kennel facilities every day.
Ensuring all equipment necessary to carry out MDD operations is available as needed
Ensuring that all required documentation is completed and stored appropriately.
Ensuring that as operational staff they are properly dressed with the issued uniform, PPE, blood group ID-tag, first-aid kits etc…
Ensuring that a Daily Detection Capability Test is carried out.
Conducting at least one detection capability control/check each operational day
Conducting other tasks assigned by his/her superior (for example observer duties, manual deminer duties, quality control tasks etc.)
Guiding Policies, Documents, and Principles
Adhere to all NPA policies, regulations and procedures; including those specific to the department including, but not limited to; NPA Iraq HR Policy, Confidentiality policy, environmental principles and guidelines.
Work within the framework of NPA core values.
Act as an ambassador for NPA, through professionalism and conduct.
Follow all verbal and/or written instructions, unless in direct violation of safety and duty of care
Maintain and care for all equipment issued by NPA and for any loss or damage, being liable for repair or replacement in case of damage resulting from negligence.
Ensure a safe workplace and protect all staff and equipment from damage/ injury.

Basic Demining course-desirable
Dog Handlers Course-preferable
