Aim of the position: The MEAL assistant will supervise the data collectors and be in charge of data analysis during the project’s baseline and endline, as well as monitoring activities of AICS project in the sector of protection.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Support MEAL department in designing data collection tools/templates and assist for regular data collection/generation process.
  • Organize regular field visits and support AVSI in evaluating any potential adjustment to the project to improve its impact.
  • Support in quarterly monitoring and evaluation reports preparation to identify any major challenges and opportunities faced throughout the project activities.
  • Develop common indicators for data collection, design data collection tools/templates, and assist for regular data collection/generation process.
  • Assist with data collection activities and ensure that data collectors are organized and resourced are allocated as needed, and that they deliver collected data as per field mission plans and according to data quality standards;
  • Assist in the analysis of MEAL data and help produce reports, factsheets with useful statistical analysis and presentation (charts, tables, histograms, box plots) as necessary in a timely manner;
  • Collect and prepare data for analysis.
  • Assist in the MEAL Department in managing complaints effectively and confidentially.
  • Provide regular and timely updates on progress and challenges to supervisors and other team members.
  • Perform other duties within area of responsibility, as requested by the supervisor.

Reporting to: MEAL Coordinator

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Essential requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, economics, development studies, International Relations or Social Science
  • 2 – 3 years of experience in development/Humanitarian context in designing, implementing, and overseeing MEAL related task.
  • Knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Required skills and experiences:

  • Strong analytical and IT skills, including statistical tools and business analytics services (SPSS, Power BI, Excel).
  • Good communication and inter-personal skills, team player and self-organized.
  • Statistical analysis and IT skills, including use of Excel, and Kobo collect for data collection. Knowledge of Activity Info is a plus.

Language: Fluency in written and oral English and Arabic is required. Kurdish proficiency is preferred.
