Caraires are working with an independent, multi-disciplined engineering enterprise who have a Mechanical Fitter/Fabricator role vacant covering Lincolnshire.They proudly support the Industrial, Infrastructure, Commercial and Service sectors with a unique range of contracting and rotating machine services.The RoleThe primary duties in this role would include:
- Performing inspections and disassembly of rotating machines
- Working on motors of various sizes
- The scope of works carried out could be to inspect, test, report and repair
- Checking the windings for damage or carrying out basic electrical tests to measure resistance and current
- Bearing or seal changes
- Measuring housings, sleeve dimensions, shaft sizes etc
- Balancing out rotors and fan units
- Daily environments can constantly change from the workshop to a water treatment plant or oil refinery.for example
Requirements for this position include:
- Holding a qualification in Mechanical Engineering, such as a City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent
- Previous experience in an Electro-Mechanical environment is essential
- Knowledge of medium and large electrical rotating machines (High Voltage), AC & DC motors and generators is preferred
- The ability to travel for short durations for site work in both the UK and Overseas is necessary
- Proper and safe use of industry equipment during repairs is expected
- Parts should be prepared and assembled to required standards for testing
- Assembling machines to QA standards in a timely manner is required
- A strong commitment to personal and site safety, both in-house and on customer sites, is essential
- Possession of a full driving licence would be advantageous
