The Human Rights Law Centre, Australia’s leading independent national human rights organisation, is seeking a Media and Communications Manager. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced media and communications professional to play a key role using media and communications to advocate effectively on some of Australia’s most pressing human rights issues.
This is a full-time, ongoing position based in Melbourne or Sydney.

About this role
The Media and Communications Manager reports to the Engagement Director and is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Human Rights Law Centre’s media and communications work in support of its strategic objectives.
Organisational relationships and extent of authority
Working under general direction from the Engagement Director, the Media and Communications Manager will work closely with the Centre’s legal staff and is responsible for providing high-level advice and support.
The Media and Communications Manager will supervise and support the Content Producer and is responsible for establishing performance goals, and for managing the Content Producer to meet expectations.
The Media and Communications Manager is a key member of the Engagement Team and works collaboratively with senior colleagues in the team to plan and deliver the Centre’s engagement outputs, and is responsible for contributing to the development of team policies and procedures and a collaborative team culture, and for leading projects at the direction of the Engagement Director.
The Media and Communications Manager may be asked to deputise for the Engagement Director.

The position is an ongoing position with a six-month probation period.
The full-time annual salary for this role is $118,983. You will have access to generous salary packaging provisions, 5 weeks annual leave and four days of additional wellbeing leave each year.
