about the role
The Communications Senior Adviser ensures the community is engaged in Beyond Blue’s work through strategic external communications and media.
The Communications Senior Adviser will work across the entire organisation to generate communication strategies and media opportunities to promote Beyond Blue’s work and our efforts to reform the mental health sector in Australia. This includes:
- Providing sound communication advice and best practice approaches to communication strategies
- Developing and implementing content, communication plans, media releases, and creative and engaging social media content
- Handling complex internal and external stakeholder relations, briefing spokespeople, developing speaking notes, and working directly with people with lived experience of mental health conditions
- Strategic thinking and analysing data and research
- Managing media monitoring and daily media requests.
Tertiary qualified in journalism, communications, or media, the appointee will have a least five years’ experience in strategic communications, public relations or/ media with extensive experience and/or understanding in all areas of media and communications. Your excellent writing, editorial and verbal communication skills, ability to craft and implement highly effective communication strategies, excellent attention to detail and stakeholder management and strong news sense and media contacts will be underpinned by your ability to deliver creative communication plans and strategies.
