This is a great opportunity for a college undergraduate or graduate student, who has an interest in hands on experience in digital media archiving and organization by managing photo and video content, by working with Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) professionals who share the same passion and interest. The DWR is responsible for the management of inland fisheries, wildlife, and recreational boating for the Commonwealth of Virginia. The successful incumbent will be a self-starter, strong organizational skills, and detail oriented. Familiarity with Adobe Suite, particularly Lightroom and adobe bridge for photo organization and metadata management is preferred but not required.

The 12-week internship is from May 16, 2025, thru August 1, 2025, and will average 30-40 hours per week.

Housing is NOT provided for this internship opportunity. The successful incumbent will be responsible for securing their own housing and transportation needs.

Opportunities for Professional Development

  • Will work closely with the Creative Content Producer to learn more about DWR and digital media archiving and organization by managing photo and video content
  • Working with the media team with photo and video shoots, including setting up equipment and capturing footage as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and be enrolled or recently graduated from college;
  • Must currently be authorized to work in the United States, per U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services requirements (www.uscis.gov/l-9);
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8 and be able to provide official college/university documentation of current GPA;
  • Have a valid driver’s license;
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite, particularly Lightroom and adobe bridge for photo organization and metadata management.
  • Knowledge of file structure and archival methods.
  • Basic understanding of video editing and photography techniques (preferred but not required).
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.

Additional Considerations

  • Student working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in the field of Natural Resources, Communications, or other related field;
  • Previous coursework or certifications in digital media, archives, or photography
  • Previous time spent managing and organizing large digital archives
  • Experience in importing and processing older images and videos file types.
  • Knowledge of using BOX which is a cloud-based content management system and applying metadata and tagging
