Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Media Specialist to provide technical support and capacity building under Output 2 of an upcoming UNDP-funded project. The specialist will play a key role in designing and delivering media-related trainings, facilitating a traineeship program, and providing ongoing support to both mentors and mentees. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of media’s role in peacebuilding and countering hate speech, with proven experience in training and journalism development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement tailored training programs for journalists and media practitioners.

  • Organize and manage a media traineeship program, including the recruitment and coordination of trainees, mentors, and mentees.

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to mentors and mentees throughout the program.

  • Support content development aligned with peacebuilding themes, hate speech prevention, and responsible journalism.

  • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of training outcomes and impact.

  • Collaborate with the wider project team to ensure integration of media activities into the broader project framework.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

 

  • A Master’s degree in Journalism, Media Studies, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Political Science, Development Studies, or a related field;
    OR
    A Bachelor’s degree in one of the above fields with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.

  • At least 5 years of experience in journalism and capacity building, with a focus on training and mentorship.

  • Demonstrated understanding of peacebuilding, hate speech, and social cohesion issues.

  • Strong facilitation and communication skills in both English and Arabic/Kurdish.

  • Experience working with NGOs, media institutions, or UN agencies is an asset.
