The Medic is an integral member of a team conducting survey and/or clearance of Explosive Remnants of War (ERW). Deployed alongside the team, the Medic is responsible for maintaining readiness for emergency situations and providing lifesaving first aid in accordance with NPA Iraq SOPs and established best practices in the field. The Medic also monitors the general health and psychological well-being of all team members.
General Responsibilities:
Provide necessary first aid and support to the team in the event of an accident or incident
Work in alignment with NPA’s core values
Represent NPA professionally and uphold its reputation through appropriate conduct
Comply with all NPA policies, regulations, and procedures
Maintain and properly care for all equipment issued by NPA; any loss or damage may result in liability for repair or replacement
Follow all verbal and written instructions, unless they directly violate safety protocols or duty of care
Promote a safe working environment and ensure the protection of all staff and equipment from harm or damage
Responsibilities:
Ensure the first aid kit is complete, properly stored, sterile, and stocked with valid (non-expired) items; promptly replace any expired or damaged supplies.
Provide high-quality paramedic care without discrimination based on race, religion, age, gender, nationality, disability, or socioeconomic status.
Always respect and uphold patient/injured confidentiality and rights.
Prioritize and maintain patient/injured safety during all medical interventions.
Uphold high standards of personal hygiene and support team hygiene in the field.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records and report for all relevant medical activities.
Plan and conduct CASEVAC/MEDEVAC exercises in coordination with the Team Leader (TL), Site Supervisor (SS), and Technical Field Manager (TFM), in line with SOPs.
Deliver first aid and medical care in strict accordance with NPA SOPs and field protocols.
Follow supervisor/Team Leader instructions in a professional, supportive, and constructive manner.
Report any safety concerns immediately to the Team Leader.
Provide technical medical support to Operations Management as needed.
Carry out additional tasks as required by changing circumstances or directed by Operations Management.
Assist the TL and SS in the field by maintaining attendance records, visitor logs, and other site documentation as assigned.
Perform any other duties as required to support team operations and safety
Required Qualifications:
Education
Must have:
Nurse studies certificate from respected source
Paramedic training
Desirable:
Demining/BAC or NTS certificate
Experience:
Must have:
Minimum 2-year experience as medic or Nurse
Driving licence
Desirable:
Experience as paramedic, emergency room nurse or similar
Experience as medic in mine action
Other Qualifications:
Proficiency in Arabic (verbal and written)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Good comprehension and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to challenging conditions
Willingness and ability to travel within the country as required
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication
Knowledge of English is an advantage
