Shareteah Humanitarian Organization (SHO) is an Iraqi National NGO promoting safety & development through mine action and explosive ordnance risk education (EORE)awareness, and clearance of mines, explosives and remnants of war.to assistance for people affected by armed conflict. Founded in 2016, SHO has organized & executed programs throughout Iraq. including the provinces of Nineveh, Duhok, Kirkuk, Tikrit, Anbar, and Baghdad. It currently holds offices in Duhok and Mosul.

Medic is responsible for providing medical support to Operation members engaging in clearance activities across SHO.  Maintain good sanitary standards in the operational area as well as the camp/base area, in addition to the main goal of the employment. The Medic in SHO will report directly to the Team Leader. 

Responsibilities: 

• Medic must provide efficient medical support per SHO’s SOPs to Operations staff on a daily basis, in order to ensure that all Clearance team have the required medical support
• The Medic must ensure that, in the case of an emergency, he or she is aware of the location and route to the nearest medical facility(s), as well as their phone contact information, in order for the Casevac/Medevac Plan to be carried out successfully in accordance with SHO SOP’s.
• Medic must test and double-check radio communications between the clearance Team, which may include Team Leader or Deputy team leader in the clearance field, in order to ensure that all team members are safe and operating in accordance with the duties and rules.
• Medic must make sure that all personal information (blood groups, allergies, etc.) for Operations Employees is documented and regularly updated in order to ensure that all information is accurate in the event of an incident in the field.
• Medics must ensure that visitor information, such as blood group and allergies, is appropriately documented in the Medical Visitor sheet during the visit in order to make sure that all necessary information is available in the event of an accident occurred.
• Medics must ensure that all medical equipment/supplies are maintained and appropriately available on a daily basis, and they must be aware of medical supply expiration dates in order to ensure all supplies are easily accessible and their position is recognized in the case of an accident.
• Medic must check that all medical supplies are not over their expiration dates. and any medical supplies that are about to expire must be brought to the notice of the Team Leader as soon as possible, and plans must be made for their replacement in order to guarantee that all roles are followed and that expired medication is not used.
• In order to avoid sickness, the medic must ensure that a high degree of cleanliness is maintained in the accommodation spaces and working areas by overseeing the staff food and water hygiene. and the Medic to provide guidance as required and any breaches must be reported to the team leader.
• Medics should constantly pursue and use learning from appropriate training to enhance their abilities and ensure that their information is latest in order to maintain their information up to date.
• Medic must continuously Maintain and care for all SHO’s Medical equipment. In addition, the Medic will be accountable for any losses or damages caused by carelessness, as well as the cost of repair or replacement, in order to ensure that all SHO’s equipment is kept secure and used as needed.
• Medic must verify, update the Site log and confirm that the team on the field their name is in line with the name mentioned in the list in case of any accident occurred on the field to have full information in hand
• The Medic conducts a weekly medical equipment check, when any equipment is unavailable, the Medic must request it from the team leader to ensure that all required medical equipment is available in case of an accident and the proper procedure is followed.
• Any Other Tasks Required by Lien Manager
