OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
To strengthen vaccine-preventable disease control including increasing and maintaining immunization coverage for all EPI vaccines, surveillance of vaccine-preventable diseases; to maintain the polio elimination status in the country; achieve measles and rubella elimination, introducing new and underutilized vaccines, to transfer technology for the laboratory diagnosis of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and strengthen national regulatory authorities/ BPOM capacity
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the guidance of the WHO Representative and the direct supervision of the WHO Technical Officer (IVD), the incumbent is responsible to carry out the following activities related to immunization and vaccine development to assist the national immunization programme and the Ministry of Health Indonesia:
1.Develop and apply innovative methods to increase and maintain high immunization coverage in hard-to-reach and difficult areas.
2.Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate the introduction of new vaccines that have been planned or under consideration by the government of Indonesia I.e., Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, Inactivated polio vaccine, Human Papilloma vaccine, Japanese encephalitis vaccine.
3.Facilitate immunization safety and monitoring, of adverse events.
4.Prepare country-specific training materials and guidelines in support of the above.
5.Coordinate for integration of other public health interventions into immunization
6.Facilitate strengthening of health systems for immunization
7.Update, implement, monitor, and evaluate the national measles elimination and rubella control plan
8.Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate integrated surveillance of AFP, Measles/ Rubella, Neonatal Tetanus and Japanese Encephalitis
9.Facilitate implementation of national plan for eradication in line with global polio eradication and end game strategic plan with special focus on polio legacy/ Sustainability planning to use lessons learn from polio eradication and polio infrastructure for other priority public health interventions in Indonesia
10.Enhance partnership coordination and mobilization of resources for immunization.
11.Work closely with other categories in WCO Indonesia towards integrated services, MCH, UHC, and systems strengthening
12.Provide technical guidance in integrating the Covid19 vaccination into the routine immunization of Indonesia, and
13.Any other duties assigned by the supervisor or WHO Representative.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: University degree in Medicine. Postgraduate degree in Epidemiology or public health, or a related discipline.
Desirable: Training in the immunization programs and control of vaccine-preventable diseases
Experience
Essential: At least seven years of relevant experience in EPI and vaccine-preventable disease control some of which should have been obtained in an international context
Desirable: Experience in working for an international organization in low and middle-income countries with proven experience in partnering with national, regional, and international counterparts.
Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of communicable disease control, epidemiology, and laboratory diagnosis specifically for EPI diseases. Knowledge of clinical and laboratory surveillance. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated willingness and ability to work effectively with colleagues at national and international levels. Knowledge and experience in VPD surveillance and new vaccine introduction

REMUNERATION
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 77,326 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 2455 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
