Summary
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery has an open position for a medical research student to join the research group of Dr. Ying Shen. The student will be involved in analyzing metabolic dysregulation in aortic cells during the development of thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections. The student is expected to design and perform experiments using single cell RNA sequencing, single cell ATAC sequencing, and CUT&RUN sequencing. This position involves day to day research activities, including data collection, data evaluation, documentation, organization, and scientific writing.
Job Duties
The medical student will be involved in all aspects in executing research/scientific tasks for our funded research project.
- Plans, directs and conducts advanced research experiments in human and mouse tissues, and in cultured cells.
- Evaluates and analyzes single cell RNA sequencing, single cell ATAC sequencing, and CUT&RUN sequencing data.
- Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
- Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
- Assists with grant proposal writing and progress reports.
- Assist with laboratory operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related fields and an active participation in a MD program.
