DescriptionThe Longmont and Boulder Valley Conservation Districts will hire a seasonal field work coordinator to continue the Mediterranean Sage Eradication efforts during the summer of 2026. The coordinator will be responsible for managing the program, keeping track of weed removal, contacting landowners, and visiting properties to implement both mechanical and chemical weed control methods on Mediterranean Sage (Salvia aethiopis).

Examples of DutiesContacting landowners from existing database of current infested properties and helping the landowners to monitor their land for the noxious weed; assisting landowners with digging and disposing of the noxious weed; working with the staff of the Boulder County Open Space Weed Department and the City of Boulder Open Space Weed Department to remove plants from public property; creating maps of where the plants are found and continuing to update the log book.

Required QualificationsHigh school graduation or equivalent.  Ability to identify noxious weeds and strong public outreach skills. Must be able to work independently as well as with a team. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to prove a good driving record.

Physical RequirementsAbility to mechanically dig noxious weeds from rocky terrain using a shovel, navigate over uneven terrain, spend full workdays outdoors in variable weather conditions.

Other InformationHours:  40 hours/week Monday through Friday (variable depending on field conditions and crew preferences).  The position reports to the District Manager of the Conservation Districts but will work with the Boulder County Open Space Weed Supervisor as well.  The candidate will work out of the Natural Resources Building on the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont, Colorado and will also work under the direction of the Natural Resources Conservation Service District Conservationist.
