Reporting to the Strategic Partnership Director, the Membership Manager is responsible for managing relationship supporting tools to advance EGA’s membership of 200+ foundations and giving programs, building a network of peers dedicated to transformative learning, mutual accountability, and courageous action. The Membership Manager leads development and facilitation of funder-to-funder collaboration tools and practices to help us achieve our strategic framework while bringing in our Racial Equity POV to all decisions. The Membership Manager is a relational network weaver. They set the conditions and facilitate our dues renewals, membership recruitment, and member engagement. The Membership Manager will be instrumental in the continued growth of the EGA community.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Services:

  • Alongside senior staff and EGA’s Board, develop and follow-through on annual goals and strategy for membership recruitment. This includes attracting a wide range of philanthropic organizations, including those who do not define themselves as environmentally focused, to take action on the developmental path towards greater equity and justice
  • Identify, and serve as first contact for, prospective members. Respond to inquiries on membership, guiding the membership application process from start to finish, and help Staff and Board to vet and accept members through a lens of racial equity and antiracism.
  • Welcome newly accepted members and continually refine onboarding procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure quality of first-year engagement of new members.

Member Retention:

  • Connect and build relationships with and among EGA members; respond to daily inquiries from members related to engagement opportunities.
  • Support EGA’s diverse membership, developing evaluation metrics and executing strategies for effective engagement in line with mission and our strategic framework.
  • Create opportunities for effective and proactive Board engagement with all members.

Related administrative and fiscal responsibilities include:

  • Manage invoicing, proposals, and timely collection of grants (both unrestricted and project-based) and dues revenue.
  • Work with the Comptroller to maintain organized revenue documentation and reporting.
  • Work with EGA’s Strategic Partnerships Director and CEO to set and follow annual goals around grant strategy.

Program Management and Partnerships:

  • Work alongside staff to develop and produce high level briefings and events, including main stage sessions, member action spaces, and receptions.
  • Facilitate member engagement efforts, including management of programming/fundraising related to addressing racial equity and systemic injustice.
  • Advance the interconnected fights for Global North accountability and Global South leadership through international partnerships and programs.

Qualifications and Experiences

The successful candidate should have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Excellent written communications skills.
  • Relevant experience promoting environmental solutions and innovations.
  • Demonstrated respect for all people, and a practice moving internal systems and structures towards justice goals.
  • Deep experience building and supporting relationships of high trust.
  • Experienced oral communicator.
  • Attention to detail. Extremely organized.
  • Self-starting.
  • At least 5 years of work experience is required.
  • Experience in content development, project management, and logistics coordination, preferably in a philanthropic or nonprofit setting.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work well both independently and as a team are essential. Including supporting and building up the work of others.
  • Enjoys engaging with a wide range of people at in-person events and in online communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure in high profile situations, with patience and a sense of humor. Positively contributes to EGA’s organizational culture.
  • Experience maintaining high quality standards for online content, printed materials, and member and external communications.
  • Curiosity about learning new processes and using technology.
  • Ability to adapt and incorporate new ideas and innovative solutions.
  • Willingness to travel to EGA events, partner events, and in-person staff strategy meetings.
