The Program:

The Eastern Region has the only Mandarin speaking Mens Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) in the state.

The role includes undertaking Intakes for men who may be eligible for MBCP or case management and co-facilitating MBCP group in Mandarin language on Thursday nights at Box Hill office, 7pm – 9pm

Group programs have a focus on cognitive psycho-educational, using group participation to reflect on different topics for discussion. These topics always locate the responsibility for the violence with the perpetrator and are based on feminist theory with a gender analysis. The service meets with ‘No To Violence’ minimum standards. 

What you will do:

  • Co- facilitate a cultural safe Men’s Behaviour Change group program for Mandarin speaking clients for the purpose of supporting them to stop using family violence and to develop responsible and respectful relationships.
  • Provide intake assessments, individual treatment readiness counselling, and exit interviews with men when they complete the program.
  • Provide individual mid program reviews and exit interviews with male participants of Men’s Behaviour Change Group Programs.
  • Assist the Team Leader in the development and maintenance of quality assurance systems to monitor service delivery and targets. Communicate any concerns regarding safety raised in the group or privately.

The skills you will need to bring to the role:

  • Experience, in working with men who use violence.
  • Group facilitation experience preferred.
  • Graduate Certificate in Client Assessment and Case Management is beneficial.
  • Group leadership skills and a sound knowledge of violence and abusive behaviours and its effect on family members as required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • An understanding of the Children and Young Persons Act 2005 and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing – Child Protection
  • Current driver’s license

The important stuff:

  • A salary at SCHCADS level 6 which equates to $102,554 plus super.
  • Negotiable through the increments based on experience.
  • Work hours are Mon, Tues, Wed and Fri during business hours. Thursday 1:30pm – 9:30pm with penalty rates
  • Thursday nights at Box Hill office, 7pm – 9pm
