The centre also engages in community awareness and seeks to develop and implement innovative programs to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people in the region. Your new role
- Part time (minimum 0.8 FTE), fixed term up to June 2025
- Located in Batemans Bay, NSW
- Annual full-time salary between $98,185.54 to $ 102,491.77
The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for undertaking individual assessments and providing focused psychological strategies for young people with mental health and/or drug and alcohol needs. This role will also work collaboratively with key stakeholders including families, schools, and other non-government organisations to ensure high quality outcomes for clients.
Duties
In consultation with the Manager and Clinical Lead of headspace Batemans Bay, the Mental Health Clinician:
- Provides a range of focused psychological interventions (both individual and group) for young people with diagnosed or emerging mental health disorders and/or drug and alcohol issues.
- Assists family members to find constructive ways to support the young person with mental health or drug and alcohol issues. Liaises with GP’s and other health professionals (as required) to provide patient care in the area of mental health – specifically in the development and review of care plans and participating in case conferences as outlined in the Enhanced Primary Care Guidelines.
- Complies with relevant ethical and legal requirements governing Mental Health services including headspace and MPHN policies and procedures, and position scope of practice.
- Utilises a Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) approach, routinely and formally seeking and integrating outcome and alliance feedback from clients/young people to inform and tailor service delivery
What you’ll need to succeed
- Mental health experience and qualification in the field of Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Counselling or Social Science. Current registration/membership with at least one of the following: Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Australian Association for Social Workers (AASW); Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and Level 2 or above Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
- Demonstrated experience in assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders.
- Knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning evidence-based interventions and clinical practice as well as demonstrated excellence in the practical application of such, in the areas of youth mental health and alcohol and drug use.
- Knowledge, skills, and expertise in complex care and the provision of culturally appropriate and socially inclusive services to young people
