About your new role
The Port Pirie Medicare Mental Health Centre offers a transdisciplinary approach with Peer Support Workers and Clinical Staff working as a team to walk alongside guests.
Mental Health Clinicians offer needs assessments and interventions using different discipline skills, to support mental health outcomes for guests accessing the service. Mental Health Clinicians offer short to medium term supports to assist the guest transition from the satellite service to holistic and integrated care in the community. This support will include clinical needs assessment, collaborative care planning and group facilitation where required.

What you will bring to the role
Mental Health Clinician will have registration with the relevant accreditation body in the discipline field. It is a responsibility of Mental Health Clinicians to maintain all registration requirements and continuing professional development as below:
- Social Worker – Eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with no outstanding professional competency or ethical issues, or complaints known to the AASW which may preclude membership to the association. Minimum 2 years’ experience in mental health practice and current Accredited Mental Health Social Work endorsement with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) is highly desirable.
- Psychologist – General or Clinical Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Occupational Therapist – Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate is essential. 2 years’ experience in mental health practice and current Accredited Mental Health endorsement.
- Mental Health Nurse – Registration as a Registered Nurse under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 with a current annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency is essential. A relevant post registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing would be highly desirable. Credentialed status with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN) would be highly desirable.
