About Sustainable Peace Foundation (SPF): founded in 2019 and officially registered at Baghdad’s and Erbil’s DNGOs in late 2021.
Our Mission: We strive to build and sustain peace and stabilization through vertical and horizontal participatory methods and grassroots approaches; to reinstate and strengthen lost trust between Iraq’s diverse ethno-religious social groups; empower and build the capacities of the very effected communities, with a centripetal focus on marginalized groups of Iraq’s social fabric – such as women and girls, youth and minorities: so they can reduce social tensions, mitigate and transform conflicts through dialogue and non-violent means.
Project Brief: The Reclaim Dignity: Tackling Sextortion and Porn Revenge project, funded by Cordiad within the framework of their Women Voices First project that is funded by FCDO, aims to support sextortion and porn revenge cases by linked them with community Police and our Mental health counselors and legal counselors through Women Protection Committee and Community Police Forums to effectively tackle this high rising phenomenon in Mosul City sextortion and porn revenge phenomena in Mosul district. Further, develop and design effective advocacy efforts calling for the amendment of Article 430 of the Iraqi Criminal Law to include, in no uncertain terms, sextortion and porn revenge rather than simply focusing on extortion.
MAIN PURPOSE: Perform counseling and/or education sessions to Sextortion and Porn revenge cases and more (when needed), following mental health international protocols and procedures, in order to improve their psychosocial condition.
KEY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing optimal preventive and psychosocial aid to people with mental health and psychosocial needs at community, in order to provide the most appropriate mental health support for Sextortion and Porn revenge cases and more (when needed).
- Provide individual and/or group counselling, psycho educational sessions, to Sextortion and Porn revenge cases, their families and more (when needed), in order to alleviate their psychosocial difficulties within the project scope.
- Identify the mental health and psychosocial support needs to Sextortion and Porn revenge cases and more (when needed) and plan the mental health strategy.
- Identify any psychological disorder & refer cases to other specialists or other institutions for further assistance, when necessary, in order to propose the best support available.
- Provide confidential ongoing MHPSS services to Sextortion and Porn revenge cases and their families (when needed), to include the collaborative development of a Treatment Plan using SMART goals.
- Conduct home-to-home visits (if needed) for at-risk Sextortion and Porn revenge cases.
- Collect data about sessions and counselling activities and ensure that all information is kept confidential (files, data).
- Periodically disaggregate and analyze data gathered during information and counselling sessions for future planning purposes.
- Take active part in trainings and support sensitization for SPF staff about mental health /psychosocial issues.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
- University degree in psychology or Psychiatrist.
- Two years’ relevant professional experience, including behavioral techniques or counselling.
- Experience providing psychological therapies to people in need is desirable.
- clinical experience (at least six months within the last 24 months) is desirable.
- Experience with post-traumatic stress disorder, or victims of trauma and violence is desirable.
- Experience working with vulnerable people in an intercultural context.
- Fluent Arabic, English desirable.
- Strong communication, organizational and social skills (attentive listening, open attitude, empathy, sensitivity).
- Capacity to adjustment to change.
- Interest in helping vulnerable population.
- Commitment, Flexibility and Teamwork.
